Johna Applestein is a graduate of the New England Center for Circus Arts
(NECCA) Intensive program and second year ProTrack program. She specializes
in Chinese pole and also has years of experience in aerial fabric. She has
trained with Sandra Feusi, Jamie Hodgson, Zebediah Galipaeu, Nettie Lane and
others. She focuses on creating unique and creative choreography, with
attention to character, storytelling, and props. Johna’s work is influenced
by her background in Lecoq style clowning, and she aims to create
opportunities for audiences to experience an array of emotions. She
has performed in shows as an ensemble member and as a solo artist, as well
as at festivals and parades doing strolling clown entertainment. She enjoys
combining multiple disciplines to create acts that have not been seen before,
such as object manipulation on Chinese pole.
